Olympiada
A scenic village surrounded by lush, green mountains and an appealing coastline located on the northeast side of Halkidiki, at Strymonikos. Founded in 1923 by refugees of Agia Kyriaki – Asia Minor took the name of princess of Epirus, Alexander the Great’s mother – Olympiada (it is said that king Cassander exiled her to the islet of Kapros, called by locals Kafkanas). The inhabitants dealt primarily with logging, fishing and agriculture. Today’s village, built alongside a beautiful beach, place suitable for a peaceful holiday and a perfect location to explore the area. With taverns, cafes and fast food, several grocery & souvenir shops, gas station, pastry shop and a bakery attracts a lot of visitors. Not far away you can find two national parks and waterfalls to explore.
the beach
The largest beach of the area stretches for ¬ 700 meters along the village and continues for another 1 km where it meets the Chrisi Akti. This sandy beach with fine sand and a plane-tree forest nearby is under the protection of the environmental organisation, Natura 2000.
It consists of both organized sections with beach bars providing sunbeds and umbrellas and open spots. You will find taverns and cafeterias along the shore as well. The waters are shallow and clean.
Near thе villаge therе is a rocky сape penеtrаting intо the sea arοund which уou cаn find sеveral small seсludеd beаches.

Every year, on 7th of July, cultural events are taking place in Olympiada; one of which is the famous “Mussel Festival” that attracts hundreds of visitors. Be there and taste the local mussels, either steamed or deep fried!
